Born With A Bothered Mind

Happy Camper – Born With A Bothered Mind (featuring Bouke Zoete) from Job, Joris & Marieke on Vimeo.

Can’t let it get you down, though. I am a Happy Camper too. Particularly when I dig the music and the characters.

Thanks to CuriousityCounts for the tip!

Supplies For The Pending Apocalypse

You best get your orders in right away before the SHTF. Wreck&Salvage has been posting supply orders for years, but as usual, I am a tad late to the party. I could get lost in their catalogue for a good long time, which is right on, as when the mess starts to spray, I am going to need some new ways to spend my day. If you are ready to place an order on SUPPENDAPO just get your list handy and call 206-339-6324. Or if you want to snoop and taste other’s supplies just sift thru the stuff at one of the aggregator host type vehicles. Many orders are out there, but this gives you a good idea of what they look like.

When Humans Ruled The Earth

Stephen Ong’s video combines many of my favorite things: Rube Goldbergian machines, obsessive drawing, political commentary, toilet humor — and gets them to work together exceedingly well.  It’s one part Terry Gilliam, one part The Story Of Stuff, one part How I Met The Walrus, and every bit it’s own thing too.  Maybe there’s nothing I like more (today) than its “shape up or ship out” message delivered with ample humor.

Lego: The Force Unleashed

Lego and Star Wars are like peanut butter and jelly.  Stop motion and YouTube are their bread.  There is such a huge supply of great work out there, we are ready to see the best of list of the genre.  For now though, we are willing to venture that this is worthy of inclusion on just such a list.  Hope The Younger wanted this placed in The Bowl but the violence is a bit intense for the young ‘uns, and we are not ashamed to confess our total love of these things anyway, so it’s landing here today instead.

MUTO a wall-painted animation by blu

I probably have posted this before, but what can I say?  Blu has been one of my favorite filmmakers since stumbling across his work in a Chelsea Gallery.  Do yourself a favor and dig around here for more of his work.

Movies I Have Wanted To Make #1

I have a list. Okay, I admit I have many lists. And there are subsets of those many lists. And occasionally some of those subsets even overlap.

On the list of True Stories I Would Like To Find A Movie To Make Incorporating Some Of That Truth In is a small subset incorporating those true Sports stories. There’s also one that incorporates true Drug tales. And yes, as you might have guessed, there is more than one crossover between the two of those subsets.
Now I also admit it did not occur to me to turn those over to animation. I am glad someone did have that inspiration — even if they did beat to it in terms of portraying one of those key moments of intersection.
The animated documentary is quickly becoming one of my favorite film forms too: Waltz With Bashir, Ryan, I Met The Walrus, Chicago 10, and now this:

Thank you James Blagden and No Mas TV!

And thank you J. Max Ruschak for the tip!

This site could not have been built without the help and insight of Michael Morgenstern. My thanks go out to him.
